Diabetes can increase risk of early death by 96 percent, new research says

Apart from an increased death risk, diabetes can also be detrimental for your body and health as it can lead to various other health complications. The longer you have diabetes with less controlled blood sugar, the higher is the risk of complications.

One such is cardiovascular disease. Diabetes may increase one’s risk of angina (chest pain), heart attack, stroke and narrowing of arteries. Too much sugar can also injure the walls of the blood vessels that nourish the nerves. This can lead to nerve damage, with signs like tingling, numbness, burning or pain, especially in the legs.

People with diabetes can also have digestion problems, kidney damage, eye damage, and skin and mouth conditions.
